I love making an effort when it comes to social gatherings. I am not a party person so I only hang around for a short while and then go home, but during Christmas, there are quite a lot of things happening. The work Christmas party is one of those things that I do look forward to. I have sisters who are AMAZING at applying make-up and regardless of buying the same products and same brushes, I NEVER get the same results *sigh*
Regardless, I still try. I wanted to go with a really subtle approach so this is the look that I went for in the end.
Base : Luara Mercier Foundation Primer, Benefit The Pore Fessional, Nivea Tinted Moisturiser Day Cream, NYX Proof It Eyeshadow Primer, L’oreal Nude Magique BB Powder.
Brows: Benefit Ka-Brow
Eyes: Revlon Color Stay Concealer, Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette and The Magic by Juvia’s Eyeshadow Palette, Maybelline Master Ink eyeliner, Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara and Eyelure Accents lashes.
Lip: Dose of colours Truffle with a NYX Mauve Lip liner.
Finally the rest of my face was just a NYX contour/bronzer, The Balm Mary Lou-Manizer highlighter and a Soap and Glory Love At First Blush blusher.
After all that, it just about looks like I have SOME make up on!! It didn’t come out too clear in the picture and I realise that I don’t put enough on, to make it stay the whole day. I used to use the Urban Decay Primer Potion and my eye-shadow never budged and now it moves within a minute.
Here is my outfit! Please excuse the really bad photo angle. I asked my husband to take the picture and he is significantly taller than me, so I now look a very odd proportion in the picture! Anyway, the dress is from French Connection. He purchased it for me (or from my daughter!) for my birthday and I LOVE it. It’s a love deep purple colour and it’s a jersey dress. To jazz it up a little, I added a necklace that I think I purchased from New Look, last year. I wore thick black tights because it is bloody cold out there! I am not one for fashion over comfort (and also I ALWAYS cover up so I was never going to go with bare legs) I had a bit of a nightmare over shoes but I managed to find some lovely little heels from Asda, believe it or not! They were perfect and comfortable to walk in. I curled my hair with the Lee Stafford Corkscrew Curler and I LOVE my hair this way. I am due for a cut/colour but in the meantime, this style just puffs my hair all up and makes it look half decent.
Accessories wise, I always wear the same things. My Olivia Burton watch that my mother-in-law purchased for me, for Christmas last year, my Pandora charm bracelet which my husband purchased for my birthday, 2 years ago, my wedding/engagement rings, my gold thumb ring my mum bought me 5 years ago and my new Pandora ring that my sister bought me this year.
